Ability is what you are capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it.
Course Goals
The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the use of data to make decisions in daily life and in their careers. This course will cover the basic principles of statistics from exploring and understanding data to drawing justifiable inferences and conclusions about the world. The course will provide a strong base of mathematical methodology, however, it will not approach the mathematical rigor of the AP Statistics course. The emphasis will be on using data to understand the social context in which to interpret and judge what is presented as information in our daily lives. Understanding statistics will allow a student to be more knowledgeable about data, be a more effective communicator, and an informed professional and citizen.
Course Objectives
Texts The Basic Practice of Statistics 4e, WHFreeman
